Chard Cricket Club
Welcome to the website of Chard Cricket Club.
The club was formed in 1841 and played their cricket at Lordsleaze. They moved to their present home. Dening Field, in 1877.
The club runs 4 league teams on Saturdays catering for all abilities. The first and second teams will play in the Bristol and Somerset Division of the West Of England Premier League in 2011 whilst the other teams are playing in Divisions of The Shrubbery Hotel Somerset League. The Sunday A team will play in the Somerset County Sports League and the Sunday B's, concentrating on the transition of Youth players into senior cricket, will play in the Mid Wessex League.Youth practice is on Tuesday nights in the summer ( contact Kev Dunn 01460 61177). There are Youth teams at Under 10 (two),12 (two),14,16 and 17 who play in the Mid Wessex League. Two teams compete in the Wednesday night evening League and there are a few mid week friendly fixtures as well!There is a Ladies XI and Girls teams. New players are always welcome.
Club Coaches deliver the C2S Programme in the following Junior Schools Ashill,Avishayes,Buckland St Mary,Combe St Nicholas,Tatworth and Winsham whilst Holyrood is the link Senior School.
There is a full social calendar which include winter quiz nights, April race night, discos, 80's music night, family nights, BBQ's etc.
The ground and / or clubhouse can be hired out to local organisations by contacting the Chairman or Secretary.
